Victoria’s first CyberKnife® centre opens at 5D Clinics Melbourne

Melbourne’s new 5D Clinics centre in Cremorne has officially opened, bringing the CyberKnife® System — a world-leading, non-invasive robotic radiosurgery technology — to Victoria for the first time.

Developed through a collaboration between 5D Clinics and Icon Cancer Centre, this is the first CyberKnife® on Australia’s east coast and only the third nationwide. The technology offers sub-millimetre precision and real-time tumour tracking, allowing treatment of the brain, spine, lung, liver, and prostate — all with minimal side effects and fewer treatment sessions.

Radiation Oncologist Dr Andrew See said the arrival of CyberKnife® represents a major step forward for cancer care in Melbourne.

“It’s a real game-changer for people with cancers that were previously difficult to treat,” Dr See said. “CyberKnife® offers unrivalled accuracy and new hope — and now, patients no longer need to travel interstate for this level of care.”

For Melbourne resident Sue Ernsdoerfer, who underwent CyberKnife® treatment in Perth several years ago, having access locally is life-changing.

“I experienced minimal side effects and have now been in remission for over five years,” Sue said. “People deserve more treatment options, and I’m so glad CyberKnife® is now available right here in Melbourne.”

Located at 6 Palmer Parade, Cremorne, 5D Clinics Melbourne is now open for patient consultations.
