5D Clinics will deliver the CyberKnife® technology as part of Icon Cancer Centre and Macquarie University Health’s Australian-first Stereotactic Centre of Excellence.
The service will introduce the first CyberKnife® in New South Wales and only the second on Australia’s eastern seaboard.
The new service located at Macquarie University Hospital in Sydney will be the only centre in Australia to bring together a Gamma Knife and CyberKnife®, creating the country’s most comprehensive precision radiotherapy offering within one integrated health precinct.
Following the successful launch of 5D Clinics Melbourne in 2025, this service represents a significant expansion of access to world-leading stereotactic technology across the east coast. Until now, patients in New South Wales requiring CyberKnife® treatment have needed to travel interstate.
CyberKnife® is a robotic, image-guided radiotherapy system designed to deliver sub-millimetre accuracy. Its real-time motion tracking enables highly precise treatment of tumours anywhere in the body — including those affected by breathing motion — often reducing the need for invasive surgery or extended treatment courses.
The service is scheduled to commence in May 2026, with CyberKnife® treatments becoming available following installation and commissioning later in the year.
This additional centre will complement the existing 5D Clinics CyberKnife® centres in Melbourne, Victoria, and Perth, Western Australia.
